Joel and I tried to go to 31st street beach (my favourite beach in Chicago) yesterday to picnic but it was a total cluster, so we ended up going down to the point. It was so gorgeous. I am just so happy when I am by the lake, especially on the southside (northside is way too intense and showy imho; on the southside you can legitimately relax). Very few Chicagoans that I know — myself included — spend enough time at the beach or the rocks, and it is such a shame we/I don’t. It’s so unique for such a large city in terms of how the lakeshore is protected, and it is truly one of the city’s best features.
